The computer you use every day has your personal information on it, your work information and any other information that you need to use.  As your save your the information into files onto your computer and use the internet for research and check your email, you are opening a door for viruses to enter and steal your information.  The Trojan horse virus is a virus unlike any others.  Most viruses will attack your computer and duplicate into other viruses.  As the virus spreads, you lose your information quickly and suddenly.  The Trojan horse virus is applied to your computer quietly and many times the user will not detect it.  When the Trojan horse virus is applied to your computer, the virus can then only be accessed by the hacker that created it.

The Trojan horse virus has been created to attach itself to your computer through a system called “piggyback”.  The virus is associated with a program or software on the internet that you want to download and use on your computer.  When you click on the program to download it, the Trojan horse virus will also be downloaded.  When you receive emails from sources and people you do not use, they many times will have a link that is attached to the email.  The link attached will have the virus located within it; by clicking on the link you are installing the Trojan virus onto your computer.

To remove the Trojan horse virus from your computer, start by looking at your menu bar.  On your menu bar, you will be able to see different tasks and programs that have been installed onto your computer.  Look for any programs that you do not recognize or programs that you have not downloaded.  When you find these programs uninstall them on your control panel.  The control panel is located on my computer screen.  Click onto the control panel and click on the program that you did not install.  You will then be able to click uninstall and the program will be removed.  When the program is removed from your computer, the virus will also be removed.

A source that many computer owners are using and taking advantage of are antivirus software.  Antivirus software has been created to help identify different viruses that are on your computer and viruses that will try to attack your computer.  When you install the antivirus program, it will locate the virus, including the Trojan horse virus, which is on your computer.  The antivirus software will remove the virus and infected programs that you had, will no longer be affected by the virus.  As you use the internet to browse different sites and find information you are looking for, the antivirus software will let you know if one of the sites or links is infected with a virus.
